internships are not just for desk jobs

Internships are an opportunity for a multitude of industries; from construction and automotive, marketing and manufacturing, outdoor and tech, banking and hospitality to education and healthcare. Whatever industry you have an interest in, if it is in Central Oregon,  we are here to support you.  We work very closely with Crook County School District and businesses to provide ample opportunities to students and prepare them for successful on the job training and work experience. Contact us directly at the Chamber to find out about our internship program.

For Businesses

Do you have a current project or business opportunity that your current staff can’t find time for? Have you thought about hosting an intern but are not sure where to start? Consider the Prineville Chamber your internship “easy button.” We can help you launch, revitalize, revamp or grow your current internship program, and, thanks to collaboration with our local schools, community college and university, we can help find great local student candidates to fill these internship positions.

For Students

From a student’s perspective, are you trying to discover a career path, or do you have a career path mapped out but can’t seem to get your foot in the door? Are you looking for an opportunity to gain valuable career related experience with a local business? We have formed relationships with organizations in fields from medical and veterinary, to computer coding and legal, with many more options available to provide exciting and meaningful learning opportunities.

Not a Crook County Student or business?

Outside of Prineville, Youth Career Connect (YCC) is a collaborative internship system being implemented in other areas of Central Oregon (Deschutes and Jefferson County). By supporting and fostering experiential learning opportunities throughout our community, YCC has simplified the process for education and industry to connect with career relevant opportunities.  For more information on the programs happening elsewhere, visit their website.

Meet Savannah....

Membership Development Coordinator, Prineville - Crook County Chamber of Commerce

If you could write your own job title concerning what you do here, what would it be?  I plant, and then nurture, the seeds of change and growth!

Describe any professional designations and industry-related accomplishments.  I like to have as many tools in my toolbox as possible! I am a general notary, a master gardener,  have an OLCC license and food handlers card, as well as a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminology. You’ll often see me around Central Oregon working local events during the weekend. For most of my life, I have lived and breathed hospitality and tourism. I love chatting with people, especially those who have the travel bug – like me!

What inspires you about working for the Prineville – Crook County Chamber of Commerce and Visitor Center?  People inspire me! Being able to support those who do what they love every day is what inspires me about working at the Chamber!

Give us a few personal details. I love music, dancing, and traveling! If you ever come to my house, you’ll find the record player roaring, a couple of candles lit, and a plethora of memorabilia from my adventures!

Tell us what inspires you, or provide your favorite inspirational quote. “My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style.” – Maya Angelou
